It’s been an interesting year, that’s for sure, and I thought I’d give you all a little update. Haven’t been hanging around Farm and Foundry very much, because I’ve been spinning off in new directions. Mainly, I’m splitting my time between Drinking with Chickens and my art. This doesn’t mean I won’t be around here–but it definitely has meant that I’ve been around here less (obvi).
Here’s the thing. I realized that I was trying to make Farm and Foundry too many things. I am that person that wants to do ALL OF THE THINGS. I need a little more focus in my life, and for me that turned into separating things out. I’ve always blogged about cocktails on Farm and Foundry–from the very beginning way back when it was Farmhouse38 (remember THAT?!). But every time I posted about cocktails both here and on social media…I lost followers. It was always puzzling to me. So instead of just NOT blogging about cocktails, I went and created Drinking with Chickens so that I could throw my cocktail recipes at an audience that was there for just that (of course, I had to muddy the waters a little by adding chickens in there, but yanno…gotta keep it weird somehow). When I first started that account/website, I thought: nobody is going to get this. But you know what? I was wrong. I was so super wrong that that damned crazy thing has pretty much taken over my life. AND I LOVE IT. It is an absolute joy EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
And then, of course, there is my art. There will always, always, always be my art. I can’t not art. For a painfully loooooooong time, I have talked about my artwork on this site. I’ve thrown little snippets of it out into blog and social media land. I fiddled with having a shop here on Farm and Foundry. But it just always felt like a disjointed thing to include here. So finally, FINALLY I have put up an actual website that is just for my artwork–and, amazingly, it has a shop, and…wait for it…you can actually purchase my art if you are so inclined. WHAT?!!! Who am I right now? Not only will you find original mixed media metal pieces, you’ll find some chicken artwork, you’ll find wood paintings, you’ll find canvas paintings, and a few other fun things coming soon. Also, there will be prints available for most pieces very soon. Still working on that.
So what does this mean for Farm and Foundry? Well, it’s still here. F&F is where I’ll share all our farmhouse remodel and design projects, as well as garden inspiration (though you will find some garden stuff on Drinking with Chickens, too, because cocktail gardening is part of what’s happening over there), and you’ll still see some of my artwork happening (though I’ll most likely redirect you over to the art site for most of that). So please, please, please bear with me. I’ve got my hands full, but I’m still here.
